Why GSH remains an important nutritional option at Wellness Quest
Wellness Quest has offered Provizion GSH to our customers for approximately four years. We thought it was time for a quick refresher on why glutathione is important and what makes this formulation interesting.
What Is Glutathione?
Glutathione—commonly abbreviated GSH—is an antioxidant naturally produced by the body and inactivates about 65% of free-radicals inside cells.
Every day, normal metabolism by mitochondria in every cell generates reactive molecules known as free radicals. The body has its own antioxidant systems to help manage them, and glutathione plays an important role in maintaining this balance by binding to and inactivating free radicals. Free radicals bind to molecules in cells and alter function.
The body makes glutathione from three amino acids:
Glutamate + Cysteine + Glycine
Cysteine is especially important because its availability can influence the body’s ability to produce glutathione.
Cystine is present in cruciferous plant foods we avoid in the USA.
What Makes Provizion GSH Different?
Provizion GSH takes a broader approach than simply supplying glutathione.
Its GSH BioBlend combines:
- N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) — provides cysteine used in the body’s production of glutathione
- Reduced L-Glutathione
- S-Acetyl-L-Glutathione — an acetylated form of glutathione
- Organic Aloe Vera Inner Leaf (Acemannan)
- Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) — an antioxidant enzyme made by the body that neutralizes free-radicals not quenched by glutathione
