Autoimmune Disease Mechanism
There are at least 80 autoimmune syndromes. They all have a similar mechanism of action. An infectious agent or some chemical causes an antibody to attach to an organ tissue or alter a functional cell. The antibody against the patient’s many types of tissue attachment differs for each syndrome type. Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoantibody against tissue in the synapse (junction) of a peripheral nerve connecting with a nerve going to the brain. In MG, there is a blocked activation signal for skeletal muscle contractions. An economical & straightforward stopwatch can be used to measure the degree of blockage in MG & measure test benefits.
